Received the dreaded “Unable to assign assets, please try again later” error message in Meta Business Suite? It's frustrating when you've double-checked your own permissions and everything is in place—except, you can't assign your agency/Partner to your Ad account, Page, or give them Instagram access.

It could happen for four reasons, and we have the solution for each of them.

Reason #1: Meta Verified’s added security

The most unintuitive reason you can’t share assets with a partner or agency is that your business Page or Instagram professional account is Meta Verified with that blue check mark! With increased credibility, priority support, and stronger security features, you’d assume things will go smoothly as a paid subscriber'.

Unable to assign assets due to Meta Verified subscription

Unfortunately, it automatically enrolls your Business Portfolio for advanced protection features to prevent hacking or impersonation. Those added measures prevent you from assigning assets to a Meta Partner 😫.

This is one of those times when the enhanced support finally comes in handy! You have two methods to solve this:

a) Reach out to Meta Verified Support

You’ll have to approach Meta’s support staff to assign those assets manually. The more expensive your plan, the quicker (and more personalized) the support you receive.

  • Business Standard: Chat or email.
  • Business Plus: Expedited chat or email support.
  • Business Premium: Receive a call from an agent.
  • Business Max: Someone’s actively working on your support ticket.

‍

📨 How to contact Meta Verified Support:

  1. Log into the account with full control of the business portfolio.
  2. Click Meta Verified in the left menu.
  3. Click Contact Support.
  4. Select the issue you’re facing and select the appropriate business asset(s).
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions

b) Cancel your Meta Verified subscription

Meta has deemed that the higher the profile of a Page (or account), the more protection it needs from hackers and security threats. At this point, you cannot voluntarily unenroll from advanced protection. They suggest that you cancel the Meta Verified subscription as an option. This may not be an option for notable figures or businesses, so we’d suggest to go with contacting support as your first choice.

Reason #2: Unconfirmed email address

If this is a newer Business Portfolio (or one you’ve not used often), check if your email address is confirmed. Here’s how to check if your email is verified:

  1. Navigate to Business Portfolio information.
  2. Scroll down to ‘My Info’ and look under ‘Email’.
  3. If you see a message asking you to confirm your email, go ahead and click on Resend email if that’s the right address.

4. Visit your inbox and open the email to click Confirm.

Confirming your email will enable you to assign Meta assets to a Partner after!

‍

Reason #3: Two-factor authentication needed

This is an obscure bug we found that prevents you from assigning business assets. In this case, Meta needs you to go through 2FA (two-factor authentication) to continue. But this bug won’t tell you the exact reason why, except to show you the same error message! 😅

If you suspect this is the situation you’re in, it’s an easy fix. We’ve found a link that you can use to input your 2FA code, and you’ll be able to share the business assets afterward.

1. Try to assign assets to your agency or Partner.

2. If that fails, click on this reauthentication link (it’s an official Meta link!).

3. Get your 2FA code via the app or other methods such as SMS, backup codes, etc.

4. Type in the 2FA code and click Confirm.

5. Go back to Partners with this link.

6. Click Assign assets now and try again 🤝

‍

Reason #4: Already assigned assets to a Partner

The last possible reason is that you’ve already assigned those business assets to a Partner. However, this wasn’t an error in the old Facebook Business Manager settings, as it would simply explain that. However, it’ll now show you the  ‘Unable to assign assets, please try again later’ popup.

If you have selected the exact same permissions for the same assets already assigned to a Meta Partner, and clicked on Confirm, you’ll meet with the error message. This isn’t a real error—in this case, nothing has changed!

Check that the Partner has the correct permissions and assets assigned to them in the Partners tab in Meta Business Suite, and it’s all good ✅
