Are there any prerequisites before requesting access to TikTok?

Yes!

There are several prerequisites to fulfill before requesting access to your clients' TikTok accounts. Here are the key steps you should take:

1. Create a TikTok Business account

If you don’t already have one, ensure that your agency has a TikTok Business Account. This is necessary for accessing tools and analytics that can help you manage multiple clients and marketing campaigns effectively.

2. Set up a TikTok Business Center account

TikTok Business Center is a centralized platform that lets you manage multiple TikTok ad accounts, users, and permissions in one place.

This is important for agencies with multiple clients, but also for setting up an ad account. You can’t do this without a Business Center account.

3. Set up a TikTok Ads Manager account

Creating a TikTok ad account is necessary for running creating, managing, and analyzing ad campaigns on behalf of your clients.

How to request access to TikTok accounts

There are three ways to get access to your clients’ TikTok accounts:

1. Ask your client to share their login credentials

If your client has a personal account or hasn’t set up TikTok Business Center, the only way to request access is to ask them to share their username and password with you.

Once you have their credentials, you can log in and start managing their content.

NOTE: This method doesn’t include access to advertiser accounts, which can only be managed through a TikTok Business Center account. This provides access to advanced tools and analytics for managing ad campaigns effectively.

For comprehensive account management and to take full advantage of TikTok's features, encourage your clients to set up a TikTok Business Center account.

It is also NOT a secure way to request access to a TikTok account!

2. Request access to your client’s TikTok Business Center

Here’s how you can get TikTok account access via the Business Center:

Step 1: Log in to your Business Center account.

Step 2: Navigate to AssetsAdvertiser Accounts

Step 3: Select Request Access and enter the details of your client's advertiser account ID. This ID should be provided by your client.

Step 4: Choose the appropriate permission level and send the access request to your client.

Step 5:  A QR code will be generated. This needs to be shared with your client.

Step 6: Once they scan the QR code with their TikTok app, you will receive access to their business center account and ad account.

There are three access permission levels:

  • Admin: Those with admin-level permissions have full access to the TikTok Business Center. This includes user management, access to all campaigns, and managing billing and payments.
  • Operator: Those with operator-level permissions have access to create, manage, and optimize ad campaigns. However, they can’t add or remove users.
  • Analyst: Those with analyst-level permissions only have access to view campaign performance data and generate reports.

Using TikTok Business Center to request access to your client's accounts offers several benefits:

  • Account security: With TikTok Business Center, each user can have their own login credentials, which minimizes unauthorized access or data breaches.
  • Seamless management: TikTok Business Center is a centralized platform for managing multiple clients' accounts, making it easier for agencies to handle all their campaigns.
